In 1996, the Arizona Board of Regents, in conjunction with the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration Health Care System, established the Valley Fever Center for Excellence. Since the University of Arizona has the only Arizona medical school situated in the endemic region, the Board of Regents established the Center at the University of Arizona.
